CLASS
Leadership Sandy Springs is a "class"
program where groups of business leaders, owners and civic volunteers collectively
work towards the greater good and advancement of the City and Community
of Sandy Springs.
On Thursday, May 14, 2009 Leadership Sandy Springs celebrated
the graduation of its 22nd class. The graduating class includes 29 members
who work in the Sandy Springs area, servicing the corporate world, local government
and non-profit community. The commencement ceremony and dinner was held at
5 Seasons Brewing Company, The Prado, 5600 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs. State
Representative Joe Wilkinson delivered the commencement address, offering
his perspective on leadership. Wilkinson currently serves in the Georgia House
of Representatives and is a former executive of the Coca-Cola Company and a
retiree of the United States Naval Reserve.
“Leadership Sandy Springs is simply remarkable,” Representative
Wilkinson said. “It is a great organization and continues to get better
every year.”
LSS develops community leaders by bringing together a group of individuals
from throughout Sandy Springs representing various sectors of the community
each year. The nine-month program presents information on all aspects of the
Sandy Springs community from local and state government to education to civic
and cultural issues. Each year the class completes service projects to benefit
Sandy Springs.
LSS Alumni have been tapped to serve on many city of Sandy Springs and Fulton
County task forces, advisory committees and policy making boards. They fill
significant positions with the city of Sandy Springs and serve as directors
on non-profit boards in the community.
On Thursday evening, three alumni members received 2009 Alumni Recognition
Awards for demonstrating outstanding leadership in the community. |
